Dr. Heather Moeser is originally from Long Beach Island, NJ and moved to North Carolina in 1993 when she attended University of North Carolina at Asheville and North Carolina State University for undergraduate studies. Dr. Moeser took the opportunity to travel and explore the US and reside in Seattle Washington for a year before pursuing her Master's degree in Animal Nutrition at The University of Georgia. Later, Dr. Moeser returned to North Carolina State University for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She has been a veterinarian since 2005.
During her veterinary training, Dr. Moeser focused on small animal medicine and surgery; however , she also developed a special interest in marine mammal conservation and medicine. Dr. Moeser received a prestigious Geraldine R. Dodge "Frontiers in Veterinary Medicine" fellowship and a "Proficiency in Wildlife Medicine" award for her for her research on manatee cold stress syndrome. Subsequently, Dr. Moeser received an additional Geraldine R. Dodge fellowship for a epidemiologic study targeting the pet population that travels with the bands, the grateful Dead and Phish. Upon graduation from NC State, Dr. Moeser continued her work with manatees at the Florida's Fish and Wildlife research Institute's Marine Mammal Pathobiology Lab Marine.
While working with Manatees, Dr. Moeser felt she had her dream job; however, she missed her interactions with small animals and their owners. Later she decided that, although interesting, manatees did not satisfy her need of nurturing and supporting the human animal bond through small animal medicine. After working in traditional Veterinary Hospitals for several years the pace and personalization of medical care and ongoing "red tape" was frustrating. That is when Dr. Moeser deciding to create her own Mobile veterinary medical practice - dedicated to providing personalized veterinary care for your family and maintaining the "down to earth" approach.
Dr. Moeser is married to Adam, also a veterinarian, and has two adorable children Jack (3 yr old) and Zoey (1 yr old). She enjoys spending time with her family in between texting clients about their pet concerns, reality TV, and being sore after her new endeavors in crossfit training at Crossfit Invoke.
